Buses to and from Frankfurt Airport (FRA)

For traveling on a budget, in and around Frankfurt, public transport by bus will take you to your destination. The use of regular public buses is available from Frankfurt Airport, as well as long-distance Lufthansa Airport Buses.

At Frankfurt Airport, bus stations are found at Terminal 1 and Terminal 2. By Terminal 1, buses stop in front of the Arrivals Hall, and by Terminal 2, buses are outside Level 2 in front of the Arrivals and Departure Halls. Most buses stop at Terminal 1 only, but a few service Terminal 2. The bus numbers for Terminal 2 are 61, 68 and 73 that travel to Kelsterbach and bus number 975. Bus number 61 will take you to Frankfurt-Südbahnhof and number 900 travels to Obertshausen Bahnhof.

The other two bus services in operation are the Darmstadt Airliner and the Lufthansa Bus Liners. The Darmstadt Airliner travels to Darmstadt and Lufthansa serves many longer-distance destinations such as Hahn Airport, Heidelberg, Mannheim and Strasbourg. Lufthansa Bus Liners can be found at the bus station by Terminal 1.

Bus trips from Frankfurt Airport to Frankfurt Südbahnhof in the city centre run regularly from Terminal 1and 2. It takes approximately half an hour to reach the city centre and you may purchase your ticket from the bus driver. Ticket machines available at the airport provide tickets to other destinations. A bus leaves for Mannheim every two hours and the trip is approximately an hour long. It will take about 75 minutes by bus when traveling to Heidelberg. Buses leave for Heidelberg approximately every hour.

Find out if the hotel you have booked offers a free shuttle service. Many hotels offer this service for their passengers to assist them with making their way to the hotel.

If you are in Terminal 2 and need to get to the bus station in Terminal 1, then the free Sky Line shuttle train will get you there. Once arriving at Terminal 1, follow the exit signs to the Departures Level and then go one level down to the Arrivals area, outside the exit, is the bus station.
